Levan Mikeladze

Levan Mikeladze ((グルジア語:ლევან მიქელაძე)) (February 26, 1957 – April 26, 2009) was a Georgian diplomat and politician. He was Georgia's Ambassador to Austria (from 1996 to 2002), to USA (from 2002 to 2006) and to Switzerland (from 2006 to 2007). Soon after his resignation, Mikeladze announced his withdrawal into opposition to the Mikheil Saakashvili administration and joined the Alliance for Georgia, party led by Irakli Alasania. On April 26, 2009 he died of a heart attack.
== Education ==

Born in Tbilisi, Mikeladze graduated from Tbilisi State University with a degree in Economic and Social Geography in 1978. He has also completed doctoral work at the Soviet Academy of Sciences, Institute of Geography in Moscow, and was a Fulbright Scholar at the Center for International Security and Arms Control at Stanford University in 1994.〔(Appointments, August 2002 ).
